Daily Drizzle Life

Your Daily Dose of Fun, Facts & Freedom

12 feet deep-review (2017)

2 sisters meet up for a catch up swim in the town’s public Olympic pool. Both got skeletons in the cupboard, with demons to hide from one another. Brie whom suffers from diabetes, engaged to her long term bf David. A strong minded positive thinker, whilst her sister is the opposite a recovering junkie, who’s negative reckless behaviour has got her into the mess her life is.

The manager of the pool played by jigsaw is telling everyone to leave as it’s closing early because of the long holiday period. Brie and her sis have just met up so they aren’t too pleased about it. When they get out. Brie notices her engagement ring missing. Her sis miraculously spots it at the bottom of the pool. Brie jumps in to retrieve it, but it’s stuck in gutter, then her sis jumps in to help her. Mean while jigsaw sees the pool all empty he switches on the fibreglass cover unbeknown to him the two girls left at the bottom of the pool. Her sis gets her hair stuck in the gutter. When she finally manages to get it untangled the try to swim back up noticing the cover being closed above there heads.

But they are too late. They are buried, and the fibreglass is solid, jigsaw leaves the building. This story is based on true events both sisters fight to keep one another alive trying to find a way out. There is also an ex con cleaner on parole which has also been caught out stealing. So she is ready to leave for her final shift, when she notices the two girls under the fibreglass. She toys with them trying to get what she can out of them, when she knows they are both vulnerable. Brie co-operates however her sis has other plans. She doesn’t trust the ex con, and her gut instinct is right.

As the ex con does end up leaving them in the pool shutting off the heating, both young girls were abused by there dad when they were young, and Brie confesses to killing her father to stop the abuse to her sis, suffers a scar from the fire that caused her fathers death ultimately. There are a lot of loop holes as to how the film could have been a lot better. However a good attempt at portraying the two sisters story. Won’t spoil the ending. As it’s a gooden. 4/5 stars thumbs up from me. This is an edge of your seat thriller, even though the whole movie is set in one location and is pretty low budget as no well known actors have been used in the story, it still leaves the audience captivated, the story itself is pretty basic, however that is what makes the story so good, would I watch it again? Probably would on a rainy day, it’s just one of those movies that you would tell another movie fanatic about and recommend to watch. And if you are thinking of going swimming any time soon, make sure you don’t get left behind.
