2 sisters, Kate and Lisa are on vacation in Mexico. Lisa holds a secret, separated from her ex Stuart, she embarks on a fun filled adventure with her sis. As Kate has been the daredevil flying around the world, and Lisa has been the boring old sis. They come across to Mexicans, that offer to take them on thrilling experience cage diving with sharks. Lisa is immediately hesitant, thinking it’s not safe. But eventually gets persuaded by her sis Kate to show Stuart she can have fun without him. After partying the night away with the Mexicans, they both meet up with them the next morning by the shore. The captain takes them for a short boat ride to a bigger vessel with a cage attached to it, asking them both if they can dive. Kate is obviously the more experience of the sisters. The two Mexicans firstly descend into the water, the cage looks old and haggered.
The captain’s sidekick throws fish guts into the open water to entice the sharks. The girls then get ready to go into the cage, getting into there diving suits, the captain gives them both a quick lesson on how to use there oxygen tanks and how far they will be descending. And what to do when they are being brought back up. As the both enter the cage, Lisa is nervous trying to put on a brace face and Kate is excited. As the descend into the water, they can see all the fish and sharks around them. Both stunned with the views the automatically feel at one with the open water, then they hear the wrench move, Lisa brings back her guard and tells the captain-Taylor to bring them back up. As he is about to, the cable connecting the cage snaps and the fall 47 meters down to the bottom of the sea, both unconscious, and running low on air, trying to fend of the sharks and get back up to the surface, it’s a race against the clock. This high octane suspense thriller will leave you at the edge of your seats. Won’t spoil the ending, 4/5 stars. Thumbs up from me.
All in All if you are looking for a survival thriller to watch on a Friday night, this should definetley be on your list of movies to watch, it does have you at the edge of your seats, and the storyline itself is a good one, the director has used good actresses, as they play the parts perfectly as two sisters, it also makes you think when you are on holiday next, and if you are tempted to go snorkling, or diving with the sharks, make sure you go with a reputable company and do your due diligence to stay safe. Can never be too careful in this day and age, the movie itself is riveting and heartbreaking at the same time, it will question you stepping foot into the oceans when on your holidays, that’s for sure.
